Social Media Specialist will create engaging social media content and track its performance to drive traffic to the Andrews University CHHS website. This role involves drafting posts, collaborating on campaigns, and producing visuals that connect with students and amplify the college’s brand online. Duties and responsibilities
- Draft and schedule posts across Andrews University CHHS social media platforms.
- Collaborate with supervisor, CHHS clubs, AU SILA, and the student movement to amplify student-focused initiatives.
- Create photo, video, and graphic content that builds brand trust and community.
- Track engagement metrics and use insights to refine strategies.
- Monitor trends in higher ed and health professions to stay culturally relevant.
- Assist with event coverage and real-time content capture.
- Submit content for approval and maintain a content calendar.

- Analytical Mindset: Comfort reviewing basic metrics (likes, reach, clicks) to evaluate what’s working.
- Storytelling Skills: Ability to turn raw data or real-life moments into engaging digital stories.
- Excellent writing and grammar.
- Familiarity with major social platforms and their content styles.
- Strong time management and organization.
Technical competencies
- Able to edit short-form videos using CapCut.
- Can operate a DJI gimbal and 360 camera for smooth video capture.
- Proficient in Canva for quick graphics, reels, and layouts.
- Comfortable managing content calendars and using scheduling tools like HubSpot.
- Willing to learn and adapt to new tools as needed.
Interpersonal interactions
- Must be comfortable working closely with students, staff, and faculty in a collaborative and creative environment.
- Will regularly meet with supervisors and clubs to align content with shared goals.
- Should be a good listener and open to feedback.
Physical demands
- Must be able to occasionally carry video/photo equipment (up to 25 lbs).
- Will need to walk between campus buildings or stand for periods while capturing content.
Work environment
- Work will be performed both in-office and around campus.
- Occasional attendance at campus events may require indoor/outdoor flexibility and some evening/weekend availability.
